California Spring Classic 2010
Tournament Rules
- The California Spring Classic is open to men and women
by invitation only. This tournament will be a mixed handicap competition
sanctioned by USBC, and will adhere to USBC rules and regulations. Any
issues not covered by these or USBC rules will be resolved by the
Tournament Director.
- All participants are required to hold current 2009/2010 USBC
membership cards. Participants who are not USBC members can
qualify for entry in the tournament by paying a participation fee of
$8.00. A copy of the sanction card must accompany the entry form and
be presented at time of check-in.
- The tournament events shall be handicap events and are as follows:
Singles, Doubles and Team. Optional Scratch Classic will also be offered.
- Each participant shall bowl three (3) games per event and must enter all
three events. Teams will consist of four (4) members comprising any
combination of men and women. Men and women will compete on an equal basis.
Doubles partners must come from the same team.
- Each participant may bowl only once in each event.
- Each participant in the tournament must have an established average
acceptable to USBC. The following rules shall be used to determine the
entering average:
- Highest of 2008/2009 USBC book average or IGBO TAD average
- If none then, highest summer 2009 league average (21 games
or more)
- If none then, highest 2007/2008 USBC book average
- If none then, highest current league average (21 games or more) as of
April 15, 2010
- If none then, an average of 225 will be used man or woman
- USBC rules permits the Tournament Director to assisgn a higher average
than the minimum prior to participation in each event (USBC 319b).
- If a bowler's current average of 21 games as of April 15, 2010 is 10
pins or more than the 2008/2009 book average or if none, 2007/2008 book
average, USBC rule 319a(2) will apply.
- It shall be the responsibility of each bowler to verify his/her
average, whether submitted by the bowler, team captain or others.
Entering averages must be verified by a copy of either:
- The League Standing Sheet signed and dated by league secretary.
- Photocopy of cover page and bowler’s page of USBC average book,
signed and dated by league secretary.
- Failure to provide proper documentation or providing the wrong
average shall disqualify tournament scores if the submitting average
is lower than the actual average. All prize winnings will be awarded
on the submitted average if it is higher than the actual average.
Entries received without proper average verification will be
considered incomplete and not considered for tournament entry until
verified.
- Bowler's handicap shall be 90% of 225. Negative handicaps will
not apply.
- All cash awards shall be based on the total pins plus assigned
handicap for each event (with the exception of the Optional Scratch
Classic).
- Awards will be given in Singles, Doubles and Team events.
- The award ratio for tournament shall be a minimum of at least 1:10.
- Prizes will be distributed via check within thirty (30) days of the
competion of the tournament barring any protest. A tie in any position
will result in the sum of the prizes being aggregated for the tied
positions and divided equally by the number of ties for that placing.
- 100% of the prize fund from each division in the Optional Scratch Classic
shall be returned to that division.
- It is solely and entirely the bowler’s responsibility to be present
at the assigned lanes at the time of bowling. It will be the responsibility
of each bowler to arrive on time to bowl. Mechanical failures, transportation
irregularities, improper directions and related reasons DO NOT alter the
application of Rules 17 and 18.
- Complete doubles and team entrants must be present for bowling each event.
If a team member is not present the team may use an authorized substitute,
if available. If no substitute is available, a zero (0) score will be used
for the missing bowler or bowlers.
- Late bowlers will start bowling in the frame they are ready, with prior
frames scored as a zero (0).
- Substitutes may bowl at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director.
- All claims of errors or disputes must be made in writing to the Tournament
Director no more than one (1) hour after completion of scheduled event.
- All entries must be postmarked no later than April 9, 2010 or when squads
are filled. No entry will be accepted without full payment. An additional fee
is required to enter the Optional Scratch Classic event. Please make payments
payable to California Spring Classic.
- Participation is limited to 232 bowlers or 58 teams of 4 bowlers each.
- Partial team entries will be accepted and the Tournament Director will
make every effort to fill vacancies.
- Bowlers shall not be permitted to practice on assigned lanes on scheduled
day of bowling. All bowling is at Fountain Bowl in Fountain Valley, California.
- All bowlers must initial the scores on the recap sheet after each event.
All scores will be verified against bowling center computers.
